About the event
we're excited to share some highlights from NEA UK's 2nd annual Meet & Greet event, which took place on 22nd July 2023 at the University of Surrey. It was a day filled with inspiration, networking, and celebrating the achievements of Nepali engineering students, graduates, and professionals living in the UK.
The event was brilliantly hosted by Indu and Abinash, and it kicked off with a warm welcome from Indu, the current chairman of NEA UK. She gave a heartfelt introduction to the organization, shedding light on how NEA UK has been supporting the Nepali engineering community in the UK. The passion in her words set the tone for an eventful and memorable day ahead.
With 32+ attendees, the gathering saw many new faces, which brought a fresh and vibrant energy to the occasion. To break the ice and foster connections, an exciting Ice Breaker session was organized. Attendees were divided into groups, giving them the perfect opportunity to get to know one another. It was a fun and engaging way to create a sense of camaraderie among participants before proceeding with the formal agenda.
The next segment featured some stimulating engineering quizzes and problem-solving challenges. The atmosphere was filled with friendly competition, as participants showcased their knowledge and skills. It was evident that the attendees were not only passionate about engineering but also eager to learn and grow together as a community.
However, the true highlights of the event were the inspiring keynote addresses delivered by two distinguished speakers. First, we had the privilege of listening to Dr. Indu Shakya, an accomplished figure in the engineering world. With pride in his voice, he shared his incredible academic journey that began in Nepal and led him to pioneer various projects in the field of engineering. Dr. Shakya's achievements served as a testament to the immense potential of Nepali engineers on the global stage, leaving the audience motivated to pursue their dreams fearlessly.
Another touching moment came from Suman Baidya, who shared his personal journey of moving to the UK and the challenges he faced in securing employment. His story struck a chord with many, resonating with the experiences and aspirations of countless young Nepali engineers and students seeking opportunities abroad. Suman's determination and resilience were truly inspiring, reminding everyone that success is possible with dedication and hard work.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to both Dr. Indu Shakya and Suman Baidya for gracing our event with their presence and wisdom. Their valuable insights and experiences undoubtedly left a lasting impact on all those who attended.
None of this would have been possible without the enthusiastic participation of our speakers, attendees, and supporters. Your dedication and engagement contributed immensely to the positive atmosphere that filled the day. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank each and every one of you for being an essential part of this unforgettable gathering.
Established in 2016 and officially inagruated in 2017 as the UK branch of the Nepal Engineers Association, which has around 70,000 members in Nepal, NEA UK has grown to around 150 members in a short time and look forward to connecting to more engineering professionals and students in the UK.
In conclusion, NEA UK's 2nd annual Meet & Greet was a resounding celebration of Nepali engineering excellence and a glimpse into the bright future ahead for aspiring engineers and students in the UK. We're already looking forward to the next edition, anticipating even greater accomplishments and connections within our growing community.
Once again, a sincere thank you to everyone involved in making this event a huge success! 🙏 Together, we continue to inspire and empower the next generation of Nepali engineers and students. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and events from NEA UK!
